WHAT DOES INKPLOT DO?

Our expertise centres primarily on social media, web design/development, storytelling and content creation to help market your business online. We manage a number of social media communities and public relations campaigns and we work with a diverse group of clients, from mom and pop retail shops to big brand names, including two national ski resorts.

WHAT WERE THE CIRCUMSTANCES THAT LED YOU TO STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS?

Prior to starting InkPlot, similar to a lot of Calgarians, I worked for the oil patch. I was fortunate to find a really great job working with people I loved, I was challenged and I was paid well for the work I did. The downside was that I’d hit a salary cap. If I wanted to become a shareholder, I’d have to go back to school for a second degree. That wasn’t something I wanted to do. At about the same time, I decided I wanted to make a shift with how I spent my time. I wanted to have more time with my son and I wanted to see what it would be like to make my own calls. The thought was, I’m young, I’m motivated, if it doesn’t work out? Well…the oil patch isn’t going anywhere.

WHAT DO YOU FIND THE MOST CHALLENGING ABOUT BEING AN ENTREPRENEUR?
